Regression testing

We check whether the new release broke something that used to work, using the same suite every time.

TOOLS
Playwright plus manual verification

On the first test we build a regression suite for your product; every release after that repeats it exactly. So instead of guessing what changed between two versions, you measure it. The suite is reviewed each quarter and dead scenarios are retired.

From the checklist

48 check items

Product-specific regression suite

A product-specific scenario set, built during the first test.

Release-to-release diff report

The list of scenarios that passed last release and fail in this one.

Critical flow smoke tests

A 20–30 minute check that runs before every release.

Suite maintenance

Each quarter dead scenarios are retired and new features are added.

How we run it

  1. On the first test we extract the critical flows and build a regression suite specific to your product.
  2. We automate the most critical fifth of the suite with Playwright; the rest stays manual.
  3. Before each release the suite repeats exactly and is compared with the previous version.
  4. Each quarter the suite is reviewed: dead scenarios retire, new features join.

What you get

  • A release-to-release diff: what passed, what failed and what was added
  • Playwright test files that live in your repository — you own them
  • A 20–30 minute smoke test result before every release

Out of scope

  • First testing of a new feature belongs to functional testing; regression protects what already exists.
  • Setting up your automation infrastructure and maintaining CI is out of scope.
Typical finding mix

What this typically turns up

  • A payment provider update broke the 3D Secure return
  • The new search filter resets the saved sort preference
  • A profile page fix made notification settings invisible

Questions about this service

Who owns the automated tests?

You do. They are written in your repository and stay there when the contract ends; you are not locked in.

How long does the suite take to build?

Usually within five business days, during the first test. Later releases need maintenance, not a rebuild.

Does the whole suite run every release?

On major releases, yes. On small patches we run the affected areas plus the smoke test, and the report says which was chosen.

Don't test the next release alongside your users.
